Diane L. Mongin

Diane L. Mongin, 62, of Woodrow Road, Amsterdam, passed away on January 25, 2013 with her loving family by her side.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and the lives she touched.

Diane was a life-long area resident and a member of The First Reformed Church.

Born on October 7, 1950 to the late Claude W. and Gwendolyn E. (Smith) Whitney, Diane was a 1968 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She was a member of the Amsterdam High School Majorettes Team.

Diane was a 1972 graduate of Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus. She held a B.S. in Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse most recently at Ellis Hospital and was also the Director of Nurses at Memorial Hospital until the early '90s, working at the facility for 22 years.

On March 8, 1975 she was united in marriage to her loving husband of 37 years, Robert J. Mongin.

Diane had a special love for animals and as a care-giver she was always taking care of others. Diane was an avid knitter who held copyrights on two separate afghan patterns. She often enjoyed taking trips to Disney World with her family.

Diane is survived by her husband, Robert J. Mongin; sons, Jonathan M. Mongin (Sharon A.), and Timothy D. Mongin (Nicole K.); daughter, Jennifer L. Mongin (Robert C. Mack); a brother, Donald W. Whitney (Catherine M.); one grandchild, Gwendolyn M. Mongin. There are also additional grandchildren on the way. She is predeceased by her parents.

The family invites relatives and friends to attend a Calling Period from 2:00-4:00 P.M. on Sunday January 27, 2013 at the chapel of Betz, Rossi, and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, N.Y., 12010.

A private service will be held at the families' convenience.

An interment will also take place at Fairview Cemetery also at the families' convenience.

Donations can be made in care of the funeral home to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny's Corners Road, Amsterdam, N.Y., 12010.
