WATERFORD -- The lead singer of a local Amsterdam band has been reported missing.
Waterford Police Department are searching for 24-year-old Anna L. Kroup of Waterford, lead singer of the Amsterdam-based band, the Pop Junkies.
Waterford Police dispatcher Raymond Lorenzo said Tuesday Kroup was last seen on Monday just after midnight at a residence on Second Street in the village of Waterford.
Kroup is described as a Caucasian female, 5-foot-4-inches, 115 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
She was last seen wearing a brown wool coat and black boots, Lorenzo said.
Kroup began as lead singer of the Pop Junkies in March 2012, performing just a few gigs with the band beginning on Nov. 11.
Chad Lenig, the band's drummer, said he last saw Kroup on Sunday evening.
"She recorded with me in my recording studio," Lenig said. "She left my house at 7:30 Sunday evening."
Lenig said he texted Kroup Monday morning after listening to the CD to tell her that she did an "awesome job" with the recordings.
"She's not a morning person," Lenig said, but his phone started ringing.
"It was her mom, and that's when I was made aware of the situation," he said.
Lenig, a band teacher in Fonda, said Kroup auditioned for the band in March of last year.
The last performance the band played in Amsterdam was Feb. 9, Lenig said, but together they have only played a total of four gigs.
"We just got going. Things just started to pick up for us now," he said. "In a positive way, this was also so perplexing."
He said that the band got close, close enough to meet one another's families, but when police started asking questions about her, who she hung out with, he "realized how many I couldn't answer definitively," as they all have just professional relationships.
"She's a great kid."
