Ethel Healey

Ethel Healey, 86 of Abbott Street, Fort Plain, passed away unexpectedly and suddenly on Monday July 1, 2013, in the flash flood that devastated Fort Plain.

She was born July 7, 1926 in Addison, Vermont the daughter of the late Isaac and Mabel (Deming) Van Husen and was educated in Gloversville schools.

Her marriage to William Healey took place on June 23, 1946 at St. Mary's Church in Gloversville, NY by Reverend John F. O'Connor. Mr. Healey passed away on July 5, 2000.

Ethel was an employee at Beech Nut in Canajoharie, until her retirement in 1982.

She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Church in Fort Plain.

Ethel's life revolved around her family, with the happiest times being in the company of her loved ones, especially her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, William M. Healey and wife Monica of Tully, NY; James Healey and wife Marjorie of Alamosa, Colorado; and Joseph Healey of Tampa, Florida, three daughters, Deborah Sheely of Virginia Beach, VA; Mary Puznowski and husband Paul of Dolgeville and Melissa Brown of Fort Plain, two brothers, Roy Van Husen and wife Jeanette of North Carolina; and Richard Van Husen of Gloversville, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.

She was pre-deceased her daughter, Lynne Ann Healey on October 9, 2001, a brother, Harvey Van Husen, and a sister, Helen Mattoni- Baldwin.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 6, 2013 at 9:30 am from Holy Family Parish, corner of Main & John Streets, Little Falls, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Thomas Lawless. Burial will follow at Fort Plain Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY, 518-568-7040, on Friday July 5, 2013 from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers please make all memorial contributions to the American Red Cross, 33 Everett Road, Albany, NY 12205, Our Lady of Hope Church, 115 Reid St., Fort Plain, NY 13339 or to Holy Family Parish, 763 E.
