Robert P. Jordan, Jr., 83, of Mohigan Street Broadalbin died October 11, 2012 in Zephyrhills, Florida.

He was born in Amsterdam on May 24, 1929 a son of Robert P. and Mildred Rockwell Jordan and was a 1947 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Mr. Jordan lived in Amsterdam before moving to Broadalbin in 1985.

Bob was employed as a police officer for the City of Amsterdam for nearly twenty years, retiring in 1977. After his retirement, he worked for Northgate Homes in Amsterdam and at local security agencies. Bob also helped his brother at Quality Painting & Decorating in Amsterdam.

Mr. Jordan was a veteran of the US Army, was wounded in December 1951 and a recipient of the Purple Heart.

Bob was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Amsterdam. He was also a charter member of GAVAC, a member of the Masonic Temple Lodge #84, a member of the Korean War Veterans of America and a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart #118, all of Amsterdam. Mr. Jordan was a member of the American Legion Post #337 and of the Voiture 40/8 Locale #143, both of Broadalbin.

On September 8, 1950, he married Mary Lombardi. She died July 12, 2000. In addition, he was predeceased by a brother, Joseph E. Jordan.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Covey Whitbeck, whom he married on May 11, 2003; a son, Robert P.(Lisa) Jordan, III of Broadalbin; six daughters, Kathryn (Thomas) Perito of Gloversville, Barbara (David) Noll of Elysburg, PA, Karen (Marlo) Dronnen of Capron, IL, Marybeth (David) Lawson of Wilbraham, MA, Theresa Jordan (Jeffrey Carey)of Broadalbin, and Joyce (Thomas) Grisby of Schenectady; three stepchildren, Deborah MacDonald ( Rand Kehoe) of Amsterdam, Felicia (Shawn) Waldvogel of Johnstown, and Jymmi Lee (James) Kopeck of Galway; four brothers, James E. (Janice) Jordan of Broadalbin, Paul (Velma) Jordan of Amsterdam, Harry H. (Patricia) Jordan of Fort Myers; two sisters, Patricia (Henry) Sharff of Raeford, NC and Jacqueline (John) Lisicki of Fort Myers; 29 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation was performed in Florida.

A memorial service followed by a reception will be held on Bob's birthday, May 24, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the American Legion Post #337 in Broadalbin.

His remains will be buried on May 31, 2013 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.

Local arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 Johnstown.
