An Amsterdam woman was arrested last week in connection to the large drug raid from mid-November.

According to Amsterdam Police, Brittnie Persico, 23, of 52 Sanford Ave., was arrested Dec. 21 on an active arrest warrant from Amsterdam Police Department for sixth-degree conspiracy, a misdemeanor.

Persico was held for arraignment in Amsterdam City Court.

This is the 18th arrest in this specific investigation that has been going on for more than six months in the city.

The first 12 arrests were netted in early November. Amsterdam police announced on Nov. 12 that they had nabbed the group of 12 from four separate locations in the city and charged the various individuals -- a handful of which were in the same family -- with various crimes from conspiracy to criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Police said at the time that some of the individuals were associated with gangs.

Amsterdam Police Department Det. Lt. Kurt Conroy said Wednesday that while six more arrests, including Persico, were linked to the initial raid over the past month-and-a-half, the newer arrests are not linked to gang activity. Conroy said that further arrests are possible.
